#IraqProgress Iraq Receives Its Second Boeing 787 Dreamliner

On Thursday, the Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced Iraqi Airways had received its second Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The Iraqi Transport Ministry announced that Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi officially supervised the receipt of the second Dreamliner to join the national carrier's fleet.

Iraqi Airways received the second of 10 airplanes ordered from the aircraft industry company to profitably expand its network and connect Iraq with more international destinations.

Earlier this year, Iraqi Airways celebrated the delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a special event in Baghdad.

Business Traveller News reports that the new aircraft has a dual-class configuration, with business class flatbeds and economy class nine-abreast seats.

Currently, Iraqi Airways serves over 50 destinations from Baghdad, and its fleet is being expanded and renewed in order to support the anticipated growth in international business and leisure travel.

The country's GDP is expected to grow by seven percent by the end of 2023 as a result of increased stability and economic growth.

According to reports, Iraqi Airways is also working to develop its fleet because air traffic in the Middle East is expected to increase by more than 40 percent in the coming years.

In addition to the 737-8 and 787-8, Iraqi Airways operates a fleet of more than 40 Boeing airplanes, including 737-800s, 747s and 777s, serving more than 50 destinations from Baghdad.
