The Dutch government employing more troops via NATO to Iraq

Reuters reports that the Dutch government announced the deployment of 120 soldiers and three Chinook helicopters to the ongoing NATO alliance mission in Iraq on Friday.

As part of the deployment, the Netherlands will also send 145 soldiers to Iraq from 1 January 2024, in addition to the infantry unit they announced in July.

By strengthening Iraqi security institutions and forces, NATO hopes to prevent the return of Daesh, fight terrorism, and stabilize the country.

Food and equipment will be supplied to troops and military staff, and equipment will be transported by the new Dutch unit.
