Iraq Approved 1,867 New Industrial Projects in 2025: What It Means for Economic Growth
In 2025, the General Directorate for Industrial Development at Iraq’s Ministry of Industry and Minerals approved 1,867 licenses under establishment for new industrial projects, according to an official statement.
Director General Ali Ibrahim said these licenses covered a broad range of industries — including food, chemical, metal, construction, textile, and engineering sectors — and were issued to projects in all Iraqi governorates.
He also noted that throughout the year, the directorate issued 856 land-allocation letters for industrial projects, 1,611 needs-assessment certificates for fully established projects, and 400 certificates of establishment completion for projects that met the requirements of the Industrial Investment Law No. 20 of 1998. In addition, 2,017 existing industrial licenses were renewed, and 154 previously suspended licenses were reinstated.
