US Presidents have tried to control Greenland for decades? Why is Greenland important?

As President-elect Trump started talking about Greenland again, and more people wondered why this conversation keeps coming up.  (Read to the end of this article to understand the currency status)

When you research the topic, the first thing you learn is that US presidents have tried to gain control of Greenland for decades.  But no one is telling the whole truth about why.

We are intelligent.  We understand that if Russia were to attack the US, the threat, more than likely, would come over Greenland and into the United States.  We get it.

But there is something more that they are not telling us. Greenland is the largest island in the world and has been a territory of Denmark for over 300 years.

The US has the Pituffik Space Base on the island, and we know US military presence is crucial to US security. The question is, why have presidents tried to gain control over Greenland without success for decades?

Donald Trump talks his mind, and we need to understand why he openly admits wanting control over  Greenland and why presidents before him have quietly tried to do the same.

Is it National Security, rare earth minerals, or military positioning?

Or all of the above?

Further research shows that Greenland has a massive amount of uranium. More importantly, if climate change has its way, Greenland could begin melting, causing ocean levels to rise 24 feet.  But as mentioned before, the US wants to expand its military footprint in Greeland for economic and national security.

"In 1867, after buying Alaska from Russia, US Secretary of State William H Seward led negotiations to buy Greenland from Denmark, but failed to reach any agreement.

In 1946, the US offered to pay $100m (equivalent to $1.2bn; £970m today) for the territory, judging that it was vital for national security, but the Danish government refused.

Trump also tried to buy Greenland during his first term. Both Denmark and the Greenlandic government rejected the 2019 proposal, saying: "Greenland is not for sale."  (Orginal article on MSN)

But here's the deal.

If US Presidents have been trying to gain control over Greenland for decades, my first thought was to examine its currency. Here's what I learned: Greenland uses the Danish Krone (DKK), Denmark's official currency.

The Danish Krone and the Euro have a fixed exchange rate of 7.46. This means the two currencies are almost always closely linked.

The Edu Matrix YT channel will keep you updated. The financial upside to Greenland is more than we realize.

Special Note: The issue with the Panama Canal is crystal clear. The problem is that the Panama Canal itself is owned and operated by the Panamanian government. The problem is that the two major ports, one on the Pacific Ocean side and the other on the Atlantic Ocean side, are both owned by Chinese companies.

If there were a disturbance between China and the US, closing the shipping lanes would directly affect the US economy, so we understand why the Panama Canal issue is serious.
