Tomorrow morning's video, July 9, will explain at the end of the video what occurred late last week.
Here is the EMERGENCY NEWS RELEASE:
Under the pretext of fighting the PKK militant group, the Turkish military has advanced 15 kilometers (9 miles) into the northern region of Iraqi Kurdistan.
In the Duhok Province of Iraq, 602 villages were evacuated following the Turkish operation on Sunday.
According to Community Peacemakers Teams (CPT), a US-based monitor, Turkey has bombarded Iraqi Kurdistan 238 times since the start of the new Turkish military operation.
According to the monitor, over 20,000 dunams of agricultural land have been destroyed by Turkish bombardments.
As compared to 2021, when the Turkish military moved into Iraqi territory as far as seven kilometers (four miles), the new operation marks a significant escalation.
According to the CPT, the new operation "signifies the depth of Turkish ground operations in Iraqi Kurdistan.".
Ankara and Iraq signed an agreement in April that allows Ankara to conduct military operations against the PKK deep within Iraqi territory in exchange for increased water flow from Turkey.
Turkey, the United States, and the European Union have designated the PKK as a terrorist group.
During three decades of conflict between Ankara and autonomy-seeking groups, more than 40,000 people have been killed.
