On Thursday, a US drone strike near Baghdad killed Abu Taqwa, the head of an Iraqi militia linked to Iran.

You should know, Iraqi citizens are upset and protesting.

This news is late because the channel did not want to report bad news, but there is no way around it.

On Thursday, a US drone strike near Baghdad killed Abu Taqwa, the head of an Iraqi militia linked to Iran.

Since Israel launched a brutal war on Gaza on 7 October, Harakat al-Nujaba and other Iran-aligned militias have attacked US bases across Iraq.

Due to US backing for the war, Iran-aligned militias have escalated their attacks.

Following the continuous escalation, the Iraqi government has stated that it is working to remove US-led coalition soldiers from the country.

Abu Taqwa: who was he?

Known as Abu Taqwa, Mushtaq Taleb al-Saeedi led the Iran-linked Iraqi militia Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, which formed the PMF's 12th Brigade.

PMF is an Iraqi state-sponsored umbrella organization that consists of some 40 Shia-dominated militias with close Iranian ties.

Abu Taqwa, 43, was deputy leader of the PMF's Baghdad Belt operations, allegedly involved in the distribution of Iranian weapons stored in Baghdad, and responsible for security in Al-Tarmia.

Al-Nujaba's recent operations against US bases in Iraq and Syria were spearheaded by the slain commander, according to a source close to him.

The group has been responsible for about two-thirds of attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria since 17 October.
