Either way, investors always want to hold onto a substantial number of IQD in wait for a reinstatement, float or revalue of the currency.
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) officials are preparing for a busy winter tourism season.
The KRG Board of Tourism's marketing director, Sirwan Tofiq, briefed the Department of Media and Information on efforts to attract winter tourists to ski and paragliding destinations like Gara Mountain, Penjwen, Korak, Parzha, and Sakran.
As a result of these efforts, there is an expectation that the total number of tourists in 2023 will reach 8 million, with even higher numbers expected in the future. US investors were surprised to learn how popular Northern Iraq is for European winter and summer tourism.
About 5 million summer tourists visited Kurdistan's tourist spots by the end of May 2023, 25 percent of whom were foreigners.
By 2030, the government plans to attract 20 million tourists.
