Turkish drones fail to hit target, mistakenly strikes Iraqi resort

Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that a Turkish drone targeted a resort in the Penjwen district of Sulaymaniyah in Iraqi Kurdistan.

According to our correspondent, there were no casualties from the bombing, but drones continued to fly over the area.

The Turkish military has carried out five drone attacks in 15 days on the borders of Sulaymaniyah in northeastern Iraq.

On Friday, Iraqi Kurdish officials confirmed that a Turkish drone struck a vehicle belonging to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Sulaimaniyah.

A senior PKK official, a PKK fighter, and the vehicle's driver were killed in the attack.

In northern Iraq, Ankara has maintained dozens of military bases where it regularly conducts operations against PKK commanders.

According to a letter sent to the UN Security Council on Sunday, the Iraqi government documented more than 22,740 violations by Turkish forces.

A letter from Baghdad to Ankara included a demand for an apology from the Turkish side to Iraq and its people. "The Turkish aggressions are driven by expansionist goals," the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said.

According to the Foreign Ministry statement, Baghdad expects the UN Security Council to denounce Turkey's violation of Iraq's sovereignty.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a letter of complaint to the Security Council and requested an emergency session to discuss Turkish aggression," the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, during the tensions, at least six Turkish soldiers were killed in clashes with the PKK in northern Iraq.
