Iraq's Trade with China exceeded $48 billion in 2022

Ahmed Al-Sahaf, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, said trade with China exceeded $48 billion in 2022.

According to Al-Sahaf, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry and the Chinese side are celebrating 65 years of bilateral relations on Sunday.

According to the Foreign Ministry's spokesperson, the trade exchange between the two countries was worth more than $48.5 billion in 2022.

According to Al-Sahaf, diplomatic relations between the two countries began in August 1958 when the Chinese and Iraqi governments established bilateral diplomatic relations.

This month, a meeting between the Chinese Ambassador to Iraq, Cui Wei, and Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid clarified China's eagerness to build distinguished relations with Iraq.

According to Wei, many Chinese companies carry out important projects in Iraq, and thousands of Chinese workers and engineers are employed there.

In March, the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) announced that it was in contact with Chinese banks about using the Chinese yuan as a foreign exchange medium.
