Alarming Number of Hemorrhagic Fever Cases in Iraq

 An alarming outbreak of hemorrhagic fever in Iraq is threatening the lives of countless citizens and animals. The government scrambled to form an expert committee to mitigate its spread after the number of infections rose to a staggering 377 cases.

The Ministry of Health, headed by Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, mobilized a national committee for hemorrhagic fever control, involving numerous Iraqi ministries, the National Security Agency, and World Health Organization (WHO) representatives.

The repercussions of this fatal disease were amplified when it was revealed that 377 cases had been reported along with 27 deaths - making up 14 percent of all infections.

With relations strained between the public and authorities, a

spokesperson for the Ministry of Health acknowledged that 212 infections had already been recorded in 2022.

Hemorrhagic fever is passed on effortlessly through direct contact with an infected individual's blood, secretions, organs, or other bodily fluids. It can be contracted from ticks and livestock, creating a wide zone of vulnerability across this nation.
