Summary of OPEC Secretary General's Speech at the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting

Speech by HE Haitham Al Ghais, OPEC Secretary General, at the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting, 22 July 2023, Goa, India.

Thank you to the Government of India for hosting the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting, with a theme of "One Earth, One Family, One Future." India is a strategic partner for OPEC. Global energy demand will rise by 23% between now and 2045, necessitating unprecedented investment and collaboration across all energies and technologies.

OPEC believes that policymakers and industry stakeholders should collaborate to ensure investment-friendly climates for all energies. Energy security and decarbonization must go hand-in-hand.  

OPEC's Member Countries are ready to help provide energy and reduce emissions. They invest in capacity, cleaner technologies, renewables, and hydrogen.

OPEC believes investments should focus on an inclusive approach with no one-size-fits-all solution. We look forward to working with the G20 for a sustainable energy future. Thank you.
